Virginia Steen

Rheumatologist

Virginia Steen, MD, is a rheumatologist and Professor of Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunogenetics at Georgetown University School of Medicine. She is also the Interim Chief of the Rheumatology Division and Director of the Rheumatology Fellowship Program at Georgetown, and serves as Chair of the Medical and Scientific Advisory Board of the Scleroderma Foundation.

Dr. Steen has authored more than 200 publications relating to scleroderma, its complications, and its treatment Her career has focused on the epidemiology of scleroderma, with special interest on risk factors and outcomes of scleroderma subsets. She has a particular interest in pregnancy in scleroderma as well as the autoantibody subsets. She was the coordinating investigator of a large multicenter observational study focusing on risk factors and outcomes in patients with scleroderma and pulmonary hypertension (PHAROS). She continues to participate in the many clinical treatment and observational studies in scleroderma.
