Isabelle Boutron

Epidemiologist

Leading expert in clinical epidemiology and more specifically in the methodology of nonpharmacologic trials.

Isabelle Boutron is Professor of Epidemiology in the Center of Clinical Epidemiology, French Cochrane Centre, Hôtel Dieu Hospital; Assistance Publique Hôpitaux de Paris; University Paris Descartes. She is co-convenor of the Bias method group. Her main research projects focus on the specific methodological issues when assessing nonpharmacologic treatments (blinding in randomized controlled trials, standardization of surgical procedure, assessment of harm, and the external validity of randomized controlled trials). She was one of the leaders of the CONSORT group who developed an extension of the CONSORT statement for nonpharmacological Treatments. She also works on the interpretation and dissemination of research results.
