Dr. C.H.M. van den Ende is Coordinating Senior Researcher of the Departments of Rheumatology and Pharmacy at Sint Maartenskliniek, a specialized hospital for the musculoskeletal system, situated in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. Her research focuses on the optimization of non-pharmacological management of rheumatic diseases (rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, scleroderma and fibromyalgia) in secondary care and across its boundaries. Research activities focus on the identification of predictors of (un)favorable functional outcome, the organization and alignment of care among disciplines, health care utilization and the effectiveness of multidisciplinary treatment interventions. In the last five years, she was as principal investigator involved in the design and conduct of several prospective cohort studies investigating the influence of psychosocial and physical factors on the prognosis of several musculoskeletal conditions, and several randomized trials on the effectiveness of secondary care interventions for hand osteoarthritis and generalized osteoarthritis. She has published more than 90 peer-reviewed articles.
